Make your valves faster by oiling them less Snake Oil was developed for the player who wants reliable, smooth valves but doesn't like oiling them. As well as containing an anti-evaporating agent, Snake Oil also contains PTFE (the same material that coats your non-stick frying pan) which keeps your valves running even when they are dry. Snake Oil is now being used in most of the top British orchestras, with players saying that they can play for weeks on end without oiling their valves. They have also noticed that Snake Oil gives a "silky feel" (Adrian Horn, Brass Forum) and that their instruments don't seize up when left unused. Snake Oil also works particularly well on tubas, Rotary and Thayer valved instruments. "It is the only oil that works on my Willson," says Marc Easener, Albion Brass & busy London freelancer. "It is the best oil I have found for my Thayers, and all my horn playing colleagues keep nicking it," says Paul Stoneham, Bass Trombone at TCM.
Snake Oil is available in three grades, to suit all your needs,
and you can buy from a number of economical packages: - Light - for new instruments, those with tightly fitting valves, and people who play a lot of demisemiquavers. Ideal for lighting-fast action but needs to be applied more regularly.
The Light version is distinguished by the black bottle cap. - Classic - Most customers prefer Classic Snake Oil as it suits most instruments, is as fast as most other oils, lasts longer and gives a "silky feel" to the valves.
The Classic version is distinguished by the white bottle cap. - Heavy - a multi-purpose oil, can be used on Low brass, as rotor oil, and for older instruments with worn valves where normal oils just fall out. Works brilliantly on slides too!
The Heavy version is distinguished by the coloured bottle cap.

All oils are delivered in a 50ml bottle with a handy spout. The colour of the bottle cap denotes the grade. For best results SHAKE THE BOTTLE WELL before use to disperse the
particles. This will make your valves run smoother and faster as well as extending their life by reducing friction. Like most other petroleum based oils, Snake Oils are just as flammable and nasty to swallow!
